History
Care for Guildford was first conceived in 1974 and set up as a charity in 1976.
The aim was to help relieve the strain upon the sick, the disabled, the lonely or anyone faced with a sudden crisis
Initially the volunteers were recruited from local churches, but today they are signed up at Coffee Mornings, Farmers Markets, Guildford Volunteer Bureau or by word of mouth from someone already involved. The last method is usually the most successful
From our early days, our aim was always to be good neighbours to those who were unable to get help from their own neighbours or whose relatives lived too far away or were working during the day
