Congratulations to Care for Guildford volunteer, Darren Ingall for being awarded a Mayor’s Award for Services to the Community, which he was presented with on 25 April 2025 by the Mayor of Guildford, Cllr Sallie Barker MBE. He joined as a Care for Guildford volunteer two years ago, and kindly offer to drive three or four clients each week to their medical appointments.
The award was in recognition of his volunteer role at ReSkilled, a Guildford-based charity which provides long-term unemployed individuals with practical skills to help them move into sustainable employment. Darren began volunteering at ReSkilled three years ago and spends two days a week helping people to learn woodworking – providing not just skills, but confidence and a sense of purpose to those he supports.
Linda Smith, Chairman, Care for Guildford said, “Congratulations to Darren who has made an outstanding contribution to the local community. Charities simply couldn’t function without the support of dedicated individuals like Darren, who selflessly give up their time to help others”.
Darren said, “Receiving this award from The Mayor of Guildford was a huge surprise but it was also a real honour. When I had problems, people were there to help me – and now I have the time, I’m really happy to help other people.”
