Care for Guildford Recruits More Volunteers with the Support of Waitrose

Care for Guildford would like to extend a huge thank you to Waitrose on York Road, Guildford for supporting the charity’s latest volunteer recruitment drive which took place outside the store on Thursday 14 May.

Throughout the day, a team of Care for Guildford volunteers spoke to shoppers, handed out information leaflets, and chatted to local residents interested in finding out more about volunteering opportunities with the charity.

The event formed part of Care for Guildford’s “50 for 50” campaign, which aims to recruit 50 new volunteers this year to mark the charity’s 50th anniversary year. Care for Guildford is currently looking to recruit:

volunteer drivers who use their own cars to drive the charity’s clients to essential medical appointments,

telephone volunteers to take client calls and book available drivers for specific appointments

Volunteering is flexible, with no regular commitment required, making it easier for people to get involved around existing work and family commitments.

Vanessa Green, Chairman of Care for Guildford, said: “Thank you to everyone who stopped to talk to our volunteers and who expressed an interest in becoming involved. And if you didn’t spot us outside Waitrose, please feel free to get in contact at any time to find out more about volunteering for Care for Guildford. Demand for our service is at an all-time high and we really need new volunteers to sign up to ensure that we can meet current and future demand.”
