BBC Surrey Helps Care for Guildford to Recruit More Volunteers
Ahead of Care for Guildford’s 50th anniversary celebrations, BBC Surrey interviewed the charity’s Chair, Vanessa Green, about its 50 for 50 campaign – an initiative to recruit 50 new volunteers during its 50th year.
The resulting BBC News article highlighted the vital role Care for Guildford plays in the local community and its need for more volunteers to help meet growing demand. To read the article, click here: Surrey charity calls on ‘people who want to help their community’ – BBC News
Vanessa was also interviewed on BBC Radio Surrey’s breakfast programme, where she talked about the charity’s achievements and evolution over the past 50 years, and the important role it continues to play in helping local residents get to essential medical appointments. She also highlighted the urgent need to recruit more volunteer drivers and telephone volunteers as demand for Care for Guildford’s transport service reaches an all-time high.
Vanessa said: “Our amazing team of volunteers has helped thousands of people get to and from medical appointments that they might otherwise struggle to attend. They do much more than provide transport. They help our clients maintain their independence, offer reassurance and companionship, and provide a helping hand when needed. As demand for our service continues to grow, we urgently need more people to join us. Volunteering with Care for Guildford is very flexible – whether you can spare a few hours occasionally or help on a more regular basis, every contribution makes a difference.
“Thanks to BBC Surrey’s article and breakfast show interview, Care for Guildford has already welcomed a number of new volunteers to the organisation. However, we still need more! Please get in touch if you can help.”
Care for Guildford is currently recruiting volunteer drivers and telephone volunteers. No fixed time commitment is required, making it easy to fit volunteering around work, family and other commitments.
