Care for Guildford is honoured to have been awarded a Mayor’s Award for Service to the Community – an award which recognises individuals, groups and organisations who have gone above and beyond to serve their local community.
In addition to an overall award for the charity, two of Care for Guildford’s longest serving volunteers, Zita Delaney and Jackie Smith, were also recognised in the awards. Both Zita and Jackie have volunteered for over 30 years and have played a key role in evolving and managing Care for Guildford.
Linda Smith, Chairman, Care for Guildford said, “Winning this award highlights how highly valued and much needed Care for Guildford’s service is in our local community. Volunteering for Care for Guildford is very flexible and hugely rewarding – we hope people will get in touch to talk to us about becoming volunteer drivers or shoppers and provide much needed support to our clients.
Over the last ten years, Care for Guildford’s volunteers have completed over 10,000 journeys for clients. With an ageing population, a cost of living crisis and pressures on the NHS, demand for Care for Guildford’s service is at an all-time high.
If you live in GU1 to GU4, have access to a car and can spare an hour each week or each month, volunteering for Care for Guildford will genuinely enrich your life. For more information contact volunteer@careforguildford.org.uk
